Nah, I ain’t dead….yet

How do? I figured since I’ve spent a pretty swell amount of time away from SP I’d come back and…well, make a comeback.

As usual, I can’t really say that anything new or exciting has happened much, aside from my cousin giving me a bass to add to my arsenal of gear. I have no idea what model it’s called, but apparently it’s made by Epiphone. It has the headstock design of a Gibson Explorer, but the body of a Fender J-Bass. Zack (my cousin) said he bought it at a pawn shop real cheap, but it had marijuana stickers and the like all over it. He got ‘em all off and tried to clean it up a little. He did pretty good, but whoever owned this thing before Zack got it abused it. I might pour some money into it and fix it up a little bit myself. Since it’s an el-cheap-o guitar, it won’t matter if I screw anything up on it. I’ve actually removed the frets from the fingerboard, and stripped the body of all hardware and electronics. Gonna try getting my hands on some paint-stripper and get that ghastly cream-white color off, and maybe try painting something more like a cherry-sunburst finish like most Les Paul guitars have. Heh, I’ve been snooping around on YouTube here lately looking at woodworking and guitar-building vids. Would be a cool project to get into were it not so expensive. Maybe if things don’t work out this semester at school I can save up some money for a few starter tools. D:

I have late registration at Sandhills tomorrow, but it’s not looking so good for me and my brother. Apparently the FAFSA deadline was last Thursday, and we didn’t get them in until this past Monday. So, if it’s not in tomorrow by the time I register, I get purged. Luckily for me, I only need calculus, so if I miss it this semester, I can still do it in the spring and graduate. At this point, I don’t really care. In a way, I’m still unwinding from last spring. I hate it that I’ve spent four bloody years to get a damn two-year degree. <_<

If you do some work on your guitar, you should take some before and after pics o=
And sucks about your school. Also took me four years to get my 2 year degree. But 2 of those years were spent just trying to figure out what I wanna do. Only then to realize I still wanna do something else =P

I plan to take some pics. Might even document the whole thing and put it up on the web somewheres.

Haha, that’s my biggest fear. Busting my chops to get a degree for this field and then realizing I want to go into something completely different. :P
