I get into all sorts of stuff

Yesterday morning, I had about two hours to kill after dropping my brother off at the college for his 8:00 class. I needed to go get some drafting tape for my drawing class, so I decided to go hit up the local Michael’s store in Aberdeen. Sadly, me and my overly prompt self got there a whole hour before they opened. Traffic in Southern Pines/Aberdeen is a little hectic, so I just sat there in my car until 9:00. Finally, they opened the door and I headed on in. Found me a roll of tape in the drafting section, and almost started to buy some more charcoal pencils, but then I remembered that I have like five or six of them already. Then I began looking for a shammy cloth to use for smearing charcoal, but instead I found a slew of calligraphy pens hanging on the wall. I’ve kinda wanted to get one for a while now, and it took me a little while to decide to buy it or leave it, mainly because I had a choice: I can go with the beginner’s set, which included one pen, three nibs, two ink cartridges and a converter for about $7, or I could go with the oh so enticing “Master Class” set, which included probably three pens, maybe seven or eight nibs, a bottle of ink, and an assortment of colored ink cartridges for $28. It was hard, but I decided to go with the beginner set. Don’t know if I’ll stick with it or not, and if I don’t, at least this way I didn’t spend a lot of money on it. Besides, I can always upgrade if I get better. From what I’ve read on the internet, the serious calligraphers use dipping pens for their work. Not saying that I plan on getting that good with it (at least not at the moment) though. So, I’ve been looking up a lot of different styles of calligraphy and lessons, etc. Found a lot of good stuff so far. Maybe I’ll post some of my writing in the near future. :3

Aw man I love calligraphy. If I ever learn I’d so totally write hand written letters instead of emails all the time. It just looks so pretty.
Though I wonder since I write with a crooked hand will I just smear everything I write? I suppose I’d have to let the first line dry before I go down to the next. That’d be a tad annoying.

Yeah, I love it too. I wouldn’t mind going all out and buying some bamboo brushes and learning some kanji to do Japanese and Chinese calligraphy either, but for now I better stick with the basics. You should get you a pen too. They have them in different lengths, so maybe the smearing thing wouldn’t be too big of an issue. And they also have markers for it too. :)
