So yeah. Everyone has been predicting a huge snowfall for today here in Charlotte. They’ve been saying “Oh were getting 3 inches at the minimum. At the most 5-6.” So we were all expecting to get a snow day today since Charlotte freaks out whenever there’s more than an inch of snow on the ground. I planned accordingly and went to bed at one am. Yeah smart me.

So I wake up at five since that’s the time the school updates their weather hotline to tell you if classes are canceled. So I get up check the window and there’s little more than half an inch of snow on the ground. And none on the roads since they’ve been salting those suckers since yesterday afternoon. So I silently curse under my breath and call the hotline. “The university is open. All classes are in session. Class is not canceled.” Now I curse the fuck out loud. Just in case the hotline is wrong (which it never is) I check my school email. But it only parrots what the hotline said. Sigh.

Reluctantly I get up and start to get ready having an inner argument to see if I should just skip class since I’m dead tired. But eventually the angel in me gets his wish and I continue to go about my business silently yearning for my bed. So now it’s about 6:40 and I’m all packed and raring to go. Got my chef’s uniform on, peacoat and scarf ready, and, I’m assuming wishing for one last hope, I check my email. “Hey cool 1 new message.” Read the subject. “Update: University CLOSED.” WHAT? Open it. “Update: after reevaluating, the university is CLOSED today.” YOU MOTHER FUCKER. ARGH. Now I’m wide awake with nothing to do. So I do what any other pissed off nerd would do. Bitch about it everywhere. Twitter, MSN, AA, here. Starting to feel a bit better now. And hey that’s the past two hours of my life. Yey!

Also sorry for the expletives. I usually don’t talk or write like that unless the situation sorely calls for it and this one did. But hey at least some good did come from it. Nina gave me the idea to make some hot chocolate, which I will do now! Mmmm.
