Ahh nostalgia, my old friend
A little while ago, I just randomly up and decided to try punching in Anime Ambitions’ URL in my browser and see what would become of it. The funny thing is, it’s been over two years since that forum died, and yet I can remember the link to it like it was made yesterday. Much to my surprise, the ol’ girl’s still up and functional, but one of the admins went in and deleted all the old boards and made just one that’s been spammed up (and judging from the way it looks, I may have a hunch who did it). Found a post from Superbob there that he posted back in October saying to email him if anyone found AA again. I couldn’t find his email, so I added his MySpace. Can’t wait to speak to him after so long.
Sadly, I can’t really say that AA will ever get going again, but man if it at least doesn’t bring back some memories. I miss my days when anime was probably my most favorite thing in the world and I enjoyed anime forums almost as much. Back in high school when homework and school in general was a joke and I had nothing but time to kill. The only remnants of AF/AA that I somewhat stay in contact with are just Carlo and anyone on LJ that was from there….and there aren’t many unfortunately. A grand total of five, two of which I hardly ever speak to anymore. Well, I’ve kinda got that way with most of them on LJ.
Since we’re on the topic of message boards, I decided to make a German community. It’s already been made, but I’m waiting for my friend Stefanie to help me get it set up. We both have finals this upcoming week, so we’ll be plenty busy. I’ll put up a link to it later. Might as well wait until next semester for the conversation group, so perhaps the online boards will be a good thing in that regard. The problem after setting everything up is just getting people to join and stay. Depending on how well (or how bad) it does, I may try to buy some webspace and get my own domain name for it in the future. I may just go ahead and at least get a domain name for now, cause I don’t think most people will remember a long Invisionfree URL too well. But, I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Carlo says:
Ah yes. The good old days. Such simpler times :3 It’s good fun to reminisce on the AF days. I’d say that site took up a good two or so years of my teenage years and I met some of my best online friends there. Kinda wish there was a way to get everyone back together for at least a fun little group chat.
‘nd good luck with the message board.
