Babysitting and Dreamcasting
Yesterday, this friend of the family was going for a job interview and my mom offered to watch her kids for her while she was gone. Well, her oldest son, Grayson (8 years old) came down here and pretty much had me drag out all these boxes to look for Goldeneye 007 and my N64 console so he could play it. This also led me to realize that I really should probably try to find some kiddie games for him to play when he comes over. The majority of the games that I have are aimed at a more mature audience and they aren’t exactly suitable for youngsters. He doesn’t come over a whole lot, but when he does he always wants to play games like Crysis or Metal Gear Solid…shooters or anything dealing with guns…unfortunately for him, he has the attention span of a fly it seems. The controls are beyond his grasp and so are the games no matter how hard I attempted to explain. Needless to say, he began to get frustrated when he couldn’t figure the controls out and quickly decided to switch to the PS2 and play something else which was beyond him. Almost makes me wanna just go buy a dog and say that that’s my young’n. @_@ Honestly, I don’t have the first clue as to how I appeal to this kid. I don’t hardly ever speak, I’m too laid-back, I’m not a good play buddy (can you blame me when it’s freakin’ 100-some degrees outside?)…I dunno.
But anyways, back to the point, I found the little container that I put all my consoles in when we moved back in ‘06, and I found my brother’s Dreamcast in there. I pulled it out and hooked it up and played on it for a good little while. We only seem to have two games for it though. Mortal Kombat Gold and some skateboarding game…When I found the DC, I thought about looking up an emulator for it and I found one, nabbed a BIOS for it, and then found a site that has a few ISO files for download. Dead or Alive II was one of them, and I had played that game on the DC because it came with a demo CD and had DOA2 on it. They also had the first Soul Caliber as well. It said I could download the ISOs and burn them to a CD-R and play the games in all their glory either on the emulator or on the actual system itself (which is what I plan on doing). So yeah, I’m pretty happy about that. I liked DC a lot more than PS2, and personally, I think some DC games had better graphics than some of the best PS2 titles did. It’s a shame that that system was short-lived. =( So now I’ll hopefully get to play some games I never got to play, and I wanted to play a lot of ‘em back then. I’ll have to report in on how that goes. ;3

Haha, that’s awesome man. Wish you could do the same for PS2 games. there are some I’d like to play, but wouldn’t ever buy. >_>

I looked into a few PS2 emulators while I was at it, but apparently none of them are capable of playing any commercial games yet. I did see some BIOS files for PS2 emulation when I got the DC BIOS as well. I may have to experiment with those as well, although I dunno if it’ll work or not (more than likely not, but it don’t hurt to try). o=
