Some music splurging and other junk
Been a right good while since I last updated. There’s not really been much going on that I would consider worth posting about, but I do have a few things.
I found myself a guitar I like enough that I’d buy it if I was a little more serious about it and had the money of course. It’s an Ibanez RG model –> [clicky], with double-locking Floyd-Rose and 24 frets on the fingerboard. Me and my brother went to Greensboro Friday to Guitar Center to see if we could find it, and to my surprise, they actually had that same exact model (only it wasn’t the grey burst finish that I liked, it was blue). It played rather nicely I must say, and sounded great on the amp I played it on. I shouldn’t have even bought that Dean. I’m extremely terrible for buying on impulse. When I was paying for it, I was thinking “Dimebag played this same kind of guitar! MUST HAVE!” but I don’t hardly ever touch it. <_<;; I either pull out the Eastwood or play on my acoustic. I think the Ibanez would be better-suited to the style of music I’m into anyway, mainly because of the 24 frets and FR bridge. I’ve been thinking about putting it up on e-bay, but I dunno if I’d get what I wanted for it. GC does trade-ins, but I highly doubt they’d give me anything near what I paid for it. May take a picture of it and put it up on bulletin boards on the college campus and see if anyone wants it. But then, I only paid $200 for it, so I guess I shouldn’t expect to get that much for it in the first place. I probably won’t buy this for a while. I need to get a little more serious with guitar before I go dropping $450. Don’t even know if I’ll get it at all…but hey, you can’t stop a guy from dreaming, eh? =/
Now then, for the music splurging part of the title. A while back before I ever jumped on board AF for the first time (I guess back in ‘04 or ‘05), I had a friend on another forum that showed me a link to a Donkey Kong Country remix album collaboration on OverClocked Remix. Well, I remembered this yesterday, and Googled it. I found the DKC project page, and the OCR main site. On the main site, they had a link to a Chrono Trigger remix collaboration album called Chrono Symphonic. You guys, if you’ve never heard this before you’ve got to check it out! Free symphonic video game music! Need I say more? xD I also would suggest checking out the DKC project, they’ve got some good stuff there as well, and I’ve been working on getting stuff from the Super Street Fighter 2 album, and pretty soon, I’ll check out the Final Fantasy VII album. There’s no telling what else they have there either. =o
Und zat ist all. ;3

You’d probably like the stuff that Hellion Sounds does. Also, The Black Mages. FF cover music FTW.
About that Ibanez, yeah I like it. Wish I had the cash to drop on that too. Then again, I’ve been playing the same Washburn Lyon on a 15watt amp for two years.

Ahh yeah, I heard The Black Mages on Pandora a couple of times. Excellent stuff! And I’ll go check out Hellion Sounds too.
I’m really starting to sort of shift my roots from heavy metal into progressive-style rock like Steve Vai and artists similar to that degree. The Eastwood’s a good guitar to play rhythm on, but I think the Ibanez would be better for leads with a bit more powerful an amp.

Look into Tomoyasu Hotei. He’s got some chops that are WICKED. He’s the guy that did the title track to Kill Bill, “Battle Without Honor or Humanity.”
Also look up “riffguy” on Youtube. that man has some truly gifted fingers. He was in a glam rock band in the 80’s, but it never really got off the ground, although it did some touring and put out an album I think.
Another guy to probably give a quick listen to, would be Claudio from Coheed & Cambria. The latest album they put out
Also, the pillows guitarist Yoshiakai Manabe is fun to lsiten to. :)
Example’s:
“Howling” by Tomoyasu Hotei
“Simply Relaxing” by Riffguy
“Weclome home (Acoustic Live)” by Coheed and Cambria
