Wahey it’s a new song for the rotation and this time it’s a biggun. Today we’re listening to Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2 which I recently heard from the anime Nodame Cantabile [ which I'll rave about in another post ]. This is one of the more well known piano concerto’s out there it’s appeared in several movies, shows, and as previously noted, anime. This piece makes me wish I had a piano with me so that I could play and I haven’t felt that way in quite a while [ well.. cept I said the same thing in the "Anime Splurge" entry, so I guess I didn't think it too long ago. ] But yeah this concerto [ well practically all of them ] is a must for anyone who appreciates music. There have been quite a few artists that’ve used the melodies from this work as a basis for their own songs. But just a forewarning; the download is a 150 mbish flac file, so expect a nice wait before you get to listen. Also make sure your music player can handle flac files. I use Winamp 2.81 with the flac plugin. If you hate flac files for some reason, I’ll [ reluctantly ] convert it for you. Anyway hope you enjoy!

Rob says:
I refuse to download that massive file on the grounds that flac sucks :P

Just tried to download it, but it said it was done at 0 bytes. ‘Tis not cool. D=
And I’ll have to disagree with Rob if he’s talking about sound quality. FLAC has great sound. Just an ungodly size. X;

Carlo says:
Well I upped a mp3 version of it o= It’s the smaller filesize one [ obviously o= ] Woulda converted it when I wrote the entry but my laziness won over. =P
And if you think the FLAC is an ungodly size you should see the wma version O= 350mb x3

Carlo says:
Hmm looks like the files’re too big for the Download plugin to handle so Ill just provide the straight links.

Joey says:
I didn’t mean just this FLAC is ungodly (after downloading Silkroad, 150MB is nothing), just most FLACs in general. Yey for uncompressed media! x3
BTW, what did you use to convert this to mp3 with, and does it convert to Ogg Vorbis as well? =o

Carlo says:
I just searched Google for one and ended up with GoldWave. It’s only a trial so if you want the full version you’ll need to buy it. But since I just needed to convert this song to an mp3 the trial version was more than enough. And yeah it’ll pretty much convert to anything you can think of.

Joey says:
Ahh yeah, I’ve heard of GoldWave, never used it though. I’ve been trying like hell to find an open source or freeware converter, but most of the free ones I’ve come across don’t usually do a good job. =o
This song is great. I love me some piano concertos! \m/
