Soon to be the (more) ultimate loser! =D

After a long delay, I finally signed up for a 10-day trial for World of Warcraft. I’m downloading the client now…hoping maybe I’ll have it by tomorrow or Wednesday (3.2GB file download). I’m not going to lie, I’ve been curious about WoW for a while now, and I’ve given into it. My art teacher from last spring said it was a more low-end bandwidth friendly MMO and said that it was probably the best one to grind on for about an hour or so, which is one reason why I’m giving it a whirl. I hope it is good on low bandwidth, ’cause every other MMO I’ve fooled around with lags horribly on this crappy 16Kb/s connection. I’d happily pay for a game I could play well. But, we’ll see how she lives up to her name first before any paying happens. ;X

I seriously need to shuffle through my CD collection and find a song I can upload. All the good one’s I have are above 7 megs. D;

    Not even going to comment about what a terrible game WoW is.

    Ohwait.

    :P

    Which is one reason why I mentioned we’ll see how it lives up to the hype I keep hearing before any money gets thrown in. I’ve also heard plenty of negative things too, but can’t take everyone’s word for it until I see it myself. =o

    BTW Rob, why do you say it’s terrible?

    Ack. Not you too! =P I want to keep staying away from WoW, but if you find it fun I may have to fold and get it too. So many people recommend it and I don’t think I’ll be able to last much longer. Just wish there wasn’t any month fees.

    I dunno if I’m going to be able to play the dang thing before my ten days run out or not. I’ve only got until next Wednesday and this farkin’ thing’s only downloaded 50%! The treachery! xO

    If you do a direct download, get the client first before making an account. This Blizzard Downloader uses peer downloading and I dunno how this thing’s seeded. D;

    The month fees are kind of a drag…if their were some free to play MMOs out there that were bandwidth-friendly I might would try them out first…but I’ve already made it this far downloading WoW. I’ll let ya know how it turns out (if I can get it in time). I’m gonna probably go on the Nagrand server. Seems low-populated and it’s a normal, non-PvP server. =o

    It sucks because it’s nothing new at all. Everything about woW was done by someone else beforehand, and done better. Plus, you can’t go out in public and talk about WoW. So much garbled wordage and phraseology in there it’d knock your head sideways. :O

    sorta like Apple computers.

  6. Joey says:

    That seems a little bit unfair. I mean, the majority of games out there have at least some resemblence to other games as well, so does that mean they suck too? A lot of game developers get their ideas from other games made in the past. Some may plagerize and copy a lot of elements from those games, others might not replicate hardly any at all, but even so, their games have some similarity to older ones. Regardless, even if whatever was done before WoW was better, that doesn’t necessarily suggest that WoW’s gameplay is going to suck (at least until I try it and see for myself). Maybe I say that because I’ve never played WoW before and it’s one of those things I don’t want to put down before I try.

    As for talking about it out in public, that isn’t a problem for me, because no one around here even plays games hardly, much less an MMO. I’d know who to talk to about WoW if I encountered them. I don’t talk very much about any of my games with most people anyway (mainly because no one’s interested).
