Dozing Green

This is Dir en grey’s new single! I figured I might as well contribute more to this rotation :P

First off, Dir en grey is a band that has been taken Japan by storm, and is working on North America and europe. they have toured extensively in all three of the aforementioned. Sore de wa…

The title track and A-side of this single “Dozing Green,” is actually a ballad. It starts off as a slow buzz of electronics and escalates into some MARROW OF A BONE guitar work by Die and Kaoru with Withering to death. style singing by Kyo. He softly sings until the chorus, where he goes almost-accapella for a moment and back into singing backed by the buzz of electronics and guitar/bass. Kyo then launches the high notes and keeps up with the slow setting of the song. Here is where it turns. Immediately, the tempo increases and Kyo goes into an almost VULGAR like shout and scream portion. Back to chorus and more almost-accapella. The guitars are really giving it all by now, but then back to the slower tempo. It stays this way til around 3:30. BAM, back to the gnarled gnashing of tooth and claw that brought MARROW OF A BONE to such prominence in the American hardcore scene. It ends on that note, and is an almost toall contrast to how it began. The work is beautiful, and the more I listen, the more it grows. Gokurosama deshita Diru. Gokuro.

The first B-side is a re-recorded version of “HYDRA” from their second album, Macabre. It is shorter in length then the original and lacks the electronic aspect in the beginning. It utilizes Kyo’s screeching vocals from Vulgar/Withering to death. more then from THE MARROW OF A BONE, their latest release. Overall, it’s a very well done re-recording and shows what this band has gone through development wise from then and now.

The second B-side is a live vesion of “AGITATED SCREAMS OF MAGGOTS,” their last single. It has an intro of about two minutes and features the fans as they cheer for Diru. It doesn’t hold the ferocity of the album recording, but still holds true with Kyo’s vocal talents. It’s a good, and brutal, example of Diru’s live performance.

Nice man o= Brings me back to the days when I was really into Diru x3 Used to listen to Vulgar everyday after school on the drive back xD
And not that bad now that my tastes have shifted ever so slightly. Not entirely too fond of screaming anymore though =P
