This is very compelling

I was browsing around on IGN.com earlier today looking up info about Guild Wars. On the results page there was a banner that had The Settlers: Rise of an Empire across it and a link to its developer’s website (which was here). I’ve been looking at some of their videos and their features of this game, and I’m highly compelled to try it. I’m actually downloading the demo as I type…..but I won’t get it for another 4 or 5 hours or so. Thank God Opera can resume downloads. Just hope it runs alright on this comp when I get it. D:

I’m a bit of an RTS nerd. I’m not exactly good at these games, but I just like to see them in action. It’s kinda cool watching how it all works itself out, what with the settlers building their structures, living their lives, engaging in battle, what have you. Sorta makes up for not doing so well (read: getting ass kicked miserably), yanno? ^_^;;

BTW, since I’m on the topic of games, Carlo, what is your character’s name in Trickster? I wanna add ya when I get on. Oh and I hope you don’t mind, but I thought I’d make a gaming catagory. =O

    Hot damn, that looks pretty cool. Do you know if this game revolves mainly around city building or is there still a lot of combat. ’cause I’ve been looking for an RTS that isn’t all combat based. Sorta getting ho-hum with all the generic RTS’s around. Tried out Civ IV but that didn’t suit me either. Tell me how the demo works out ’cause I may have to check this out.

    And my character’s name is sevevndizzy. o= Big surprise there =D I’ve been looking for you on MSN at night but you’re never on Dx

    From what the info on the developer’s site is saying, you practically start out with nothing and then build a city from the ground up. There is combat involved, because you have to defend your city against your enemies. I would think with a title like “Rise of an Empire” that it would revolve around building cities, but then, I dunno yet. I’ll let ya know how the demo turns out if it runs alright.

    And sorry about not being on MSN lately. I’ve been trying real hard to get my sleeping back on track. If I’m not on by 11:00 – 11:30-ish, I probably won’t be on at all most likely. I’ll try to be on sometime around 9:30-ish tonight unless something comes up.

    Ahh I see. Yeah I’m hoping it’s a game that’ll revolve around diplomacy and trade. Screw fighting. Would be awesome if there were like several groups of people on one map and by either diplomacy or economics you could slowly become the leader of all the groups. Or someone else would beat you and you’d lose. Though sounds a bit boring written down. There’d have to be some fun game mechanic to pull it all together. /shrugs
    ‘nd if you can’t get the demo to run, I’ll check it out.
